Today there’s a lot of good, easy options that will get anybody with a desire recording music at home for a small price.
When I think back to the time I got into it, around early 1980′s, the digital revolution hadn’t yet started so things were a lot different… choice-wise and cost-wise.
The companies that were around are still here today but there’s so many more putting out all sorts of recording gear aimed at musicians, project studios etc. Many decisions as far as which recording software, which computer, digital multitrack. Then there’s the audio interfaces, microphones, reference monitors, the list goes on.
Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming to someone who’s just getting into it… trying to figure out what do buy and for what reason. Fortunately there’s also a lot of good information online (some bad too) but enough to pick up things here and there. A lot of it we can learn by experimenting as well.
