Computer Recording

computer-recording-imagesThe world of computer recording is huge and growing all the time. Computer recording encompasses many things from software, interfaces, plug-ins, MIDI controllers, and yes, even computers.

This digital recording revolution really got it's start during the 1980's, even before we all had a personal PC or a Mac. It didn't take long before we were letting the computer take center stage in the recording studio… and why not? The capabilities it allows us as musicians and engineers is at times almost unbelievable. Hey, I remember watching guys cutting half inch tape with razor blades to edit a song or solo!

What Is The Best Computer For Recording Music?

No one answer to that question but here are a few good answers:
Personally, I'm more of a Mac fan and so are most pro recording studios I've worked in. Having said that… you can get a powerful PC computer for specifically recording music as well.

Mac's aren't any faster than PC's of equal power that's for sure but it's more of what you don't get on a Mac that keeps me away from PC's… ahh, the memories of constant crashes weird malware, viruses, spyware, constant maintenance, tweaking and optimizing. Hey, the Mac's aren't perfect but most of those things either don't exist or they are very minimal.

Your best bet though is to get a PC that was built specifically for music production, reducing your problems and headaches that you'll undoubtedly get with an inadequate computer.

Apple Mac Pro Desktop

Another powerful computer for recording music, these start at 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel processors with tons of expansion capabilities for memory, expansion cards, storage drives and plenty of i/o ports for more external devices.
